Re: Powerful Statment
Our enemies are not in Tehran, Pyongyang, or a cave in Afghanistan.
Our enemies are in Sacramento, Austin, the other state capitals, and Washington, DC. The GOVERNMENT is our enemy. We didn't choose them as our enemy. They chose us as their enemy. We, the American People, merely reciprocate. Yes, indeed, m'am, you are right: the Second Amendment is not about hunting. The Second Amendment is about protecting the American People from the government, and the pig cops (and soon, military) who give muscle to the government. |

Here is another video that will show Mrs. Hupp's view in a constitutional way -- as contrasted with the OTHER side in a "constitutional" way ... 2nd Ammendment Intent: Searching For Meaning In The Constitution (9 minutes, 23 seconds) Chapter 3 of the ETS Pictures documentary on Constitutional interpretation, which features a debate over the meaning of the Second Amendment. The chapter also explores the background of the DC gun case then before the Supreme Court. from the video comments: Brian Seibel (anti-gun) quotes nearly ever word of the 2nd Amendment, save for the term "... the right of the people ..." which he doesn't mention once in the complete transcript of this interivew. I feel this suggests a certain intellectual dishonesty on his part. Most serious legal scholars have vacated the collective view of this amendment. ------------------------------------ "I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." --Thomas Jefferson I'd bet my last http://hematite.com/dragon/images/flag1.gif nickel on this guy. :ok: "The constitutions of most of our States assert that all power is inherent in the people; that... it is their right and duty to be at all times armed." --Thomas Jefferson to John Cartwright, 1824. "One loves to possess arms, though they hope never to have occasion for them." --Thomas Jefferson to George Washington, 1796. ME 9:341 Jefferson's NOT talking about hunting here ... To Jefferson, the word, "arms" = WEAPONS of deadly force. :bear_thumb: "A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives a moderate exercise to the Body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence to the mind . . . Let your gun therefore be the constant companion of your walks." --Thomas Jefferson, Letter to his nephew Peter Carr, August 19, 1785. "No freeman shall be debarred the use of arms (within his own lands or tenements)." --Thomas Jefferson: Draft Virginia Constitution with (his note added), 1776. Papers, 1:353 "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." --Thomas Jefferson, quoting Cesare Beccaria in On Crimes and Punishment (1764).
